From a regular tire, u will have a much more comfy ride. There r also a few high performance regular tires which offer way more grip than any runflat. Wear varies with all tires but it also depends on driving style. Regular tires are much cheaper too. It really depends if u want comfort of a regular tire over convenience of a runflat tire. cooper s dont have a spare wheel and u will most likely have to call a tow truck. Another upside is that in most cases regular tires can be repaired unlike runflats (quote me if im wrong).

U can get regular tires fitted at any tire shop, and they will be cheaper than bmw.

Well, what has been said is mostly right. I'd recommend Bridgestone RE050A tyres, I have them and they are really good for performance, both on dry and wet road, although they behave better on dry road.

Tires are like shoes and everyone has a different preference. If I were you I would try...

The Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels to get a good selection of tires.

BMW puts on Runflats as there is no spare in the MCS so if you get a flat be ready to wait for the tow truck.

yeah tirerack.com is a good place to start, look at the reviews and ratings. For best performance the bridgestone RE01R and RE070 (new i think) are the best! Then the advan AD07s are very good too. I wanted these but none were available in aus in my size.

However, these ones are pretty hardcore so they will be more expensive than others i think. also i dont know about their tread wear since they are more for driving fast rather than comfort - again it depends on driving style. I have the dunlop SP sport maxx which was rated pretty high, excellent grip/comfort/noise. the only thing is tread wear is not the best. Eagle F1s are good too from what i hear. The RE050A are good too, but didnt rate as well as the dunlop or F1s in terms of performance.

Anyway all of these will have much better comfort than the runflats. They are cheaper and are also repairable in case you do have a puncture. I bought bmw roadside assistance so theres no way im going back to runflats!

I run Goodyear F1 GSD3s 215/45-17.

Much much better ride quality, not had much chance to test the handeling now the winter has set in. But there seems to be less traction control lights in the wet.
