Tire Thread

Ok, I was just wondering. I'm not really knowledgable about tire treads...But right now, my f/r tire is 3/32....Isn't tire tread mainly for traction control in like wet environment or ice??? Well, I live in LaS Vegas which is pretty much all summmer...( winter is like 50 degrees)...anyways do i necessarily have to change the tires just because thread is low? it should be fine that i can run maybe 3-4 thousand more miles without any problem? I think i need some feedbacks...thanx.

There's law. I don't know what the minimum tread for a tyre is where you live, however if you don't respect that minimum you will probably get in trouble with police if they check your tyres. Plus, you can never know, what if you got caught in a strong rain with really low tread?

Used to be that you replaced 'em when Lincoln's head was uncovered when you stuck a penny in the groove.
It's pretty subjective these days with front wheel drive and companies dialing in alot of negative camber from the factory to aid in cornering, so you have to look at the tread across the tire and decide if you feel safe with it.
Besides channeling water away in the rain, the tread depth also provides some dampening and protection against punctures.
