United-States Brake Warning? Time for New Pads & Rotors?

For the past three weeks the warning (attached, taken about an hour ago) has been insinuating itself into my consciousness from time to time with increasing frequency.

I just put my winter wheels & tires on a month ago & the pads all 'round looked to be quite fine. Rotors looked pretty fine too, with only about .5mm wear to the fronts at present.

Is the warning indicator trying to get me to change pads? My '02 S was terrible with wear to the OEM pads & rotors & Expensive to get replaced at the dealers. The rears went first, at about the same mileage.

I want to be safe whilst motoring about, but not taken advantage of by the dealer again.

16,000+ miles to date, R56 delivered in early April 2007.

The U.S. R56 MC owner's manual, page 120, indicates this is likely low brake fluid level. The ASC/DSC disabled lamp in combination with other lamps can indicate electronics failure, but not in this particular configuration. See pages 121-122.

Yep, you're correct!

I took everyone's comments to heart & stopped on the way home to pick up a bottle of DOT4-spec fluid. After adding about 200 ml to the resevoir (no "fill to here" line that I could see) the warnings have ceased.

Got a stop in at the dealer scheduled for Monday; at least now I can tell them to look for a fluid leak somewhere.

Thanks everyone for your attention to my query & your comments.
