Offline | Tire shop says no to regular tire on runflat rims I just went to change over my 17" runflat wheels to conventional tires. The manager of the tire shop said that conventional tires cannot be mounted on runflat rims. From reviewing the forum here and elsewhere, I have not been able to confirm any advice directly on point, but it is evident that Mini owners do it all of the time! Would anyone be able to share definitive advice on this issue or point me in the direction of getting the advice? |

Offline | The fact that hundreds, if not thousands, of people on here and elsewhere do it and have done it with no problem is a pretty clear indication it's fine. That was enough for me, and I never had any problems with non-runflats, or did my brother-in-law, or anyone else I know. |

Offline | I agree. It seems as though thousands of users can't be wrong. I suspect that my local tire dealer likes the markup on a $300 runflat more than that of a $130 conventional tire. If anyone has any definitive information, I'd love to hear it. |

Offline | There is no problem in switching to regular tires on run-flat rims. My local BMW/Mini dealer offeres it as many people complained about the noise and performance of run-flat tires and have them changed to regular tires when taking delivery of their new cars! |

Offline | The type of Run Flats that fit the MINI have been designed to fit any rim not specially designed Rims. Tell him he's talking pish and to ask his tyre manufacturers. Just trying to get more money or he know's F.A. Either way stay clear. |

| 05 MCS BEP | I have regular tires on my MINI (an R53). Your tire dealer might be confused as the R56 MINIs may have the tire pressure monitoring sensor on the valves and he doesn't know enough about them. Just a thought. 05MCS BEP - Alta 22mm rear anti-swaybar, Madness CAI |
