United-States Best tires

I need some advice on getting some new tires for my 2005 MINI. When I ordered the car, the dealer convinced me to get the Run Flat tires which I really regret. Last year one of the tires had a hole and had to be replaced. A year later, I need to replace the front tire again because a nail was found in it and the passenger front tire is worn out as well so that's two tires I need replaced. The dealer I got the MINI from (Crevier in Santa Ana, CA) wanted to charge me 500 per tire the first time around and I managed to find the tire elsewhere for 400 but spending nearly 1000 on just two tires is financially out of the question for me right now.

What tires are recommended for a 2005 MC? I'm not looking for anything fancy. No high performance or any more run flat tires. Just straight, normal tires that won't cost me an arm and a leg to replace if something happens to them.

I really appreciate your feedback!

Your car should have a spare tire, so you can run conventional tires.

The Tire Rack lists the following in 205/50-16 size at good prices:
  • $75 for Kumho Ecsta ASX (All Season)
  • $69 for General Exclaim UHP (Summer)

Yes, it does have one of the donut-sized spare tires underneath the boot/trunk.

Thanks MINIAC!

I have the Dunlop SportMaxxs in 205/50/16 as my summer tires.
Not quite as nice as the Bridgestone PP S-03s that I had on before them (not made any more),
but ... almost ... and ...
they are 3# lighter per tire than the S-03s, and a bit less expensive, too.

Bought a set of Kumho Ecsta myself. I'll be putting them on for the summer and then on to the Autobahn. Just looking at them I am happy. They seem to be well built. Time will tell on how they perform.
