Tyre pressure units

I have a feeling I'm about to make an idiot of myself (especially considering I got a B at A level physics), but I'm confused by this and an hour's Googling hasn't helped.

Take the following pressures from the user manual (taken from the max 1 man and one woman column, although I wonder what the gender of the people in the car has to do with anything). Units are bar (kPa/psi)

Mini One
Tyre: 175/65 R15 front 2.1 (210/30), rear 2.4 (240/35)

Mini Cooper
Tyre: 175/65 R15 front 2.1 (210/30), rear 2.4 (210/30)

Now, in terms of pressures measured in bar (gauge pressures), both models are 2.1 at the front and 2.4 at the back.

For the pressures in psi, we have 30 and 35 for the MINI One, but 30 and 30 for the MINI Cooper. How can the correct pressures be different when measured in bar, but the same when measured in psi?

Or am I completely misunderstanding something here?

Thanks

Oli

Aaah, thank you! This has been bugging me for ages! Now it all makes sense.

I guess if MINI were telling people about the error, they wouldn't have told me as I don't have a Cooper.
