Thumbs up Caliper Paint - rear brakes

Hello all,

Is there a consensus on the best brand of paint to use for rear calipers ?

Cheers,
K.

Ive tried that VHT caliper paint,

Its Pants, dries quickly but its a matt colour and looks really bad so i had to respray them with normal paint and the brake dust has ate in to the paint and now they need re-doing.

Id be interested in a good quality one but not too sure.

I uses halford red caliper paint. Takes about 10-15mins for each coat to be touch dry and leaves a shiny gloss finish! You need to put a few coats on but thats obvoius as with painting anything! Break dust seems to come off quite easily aswell.

well i am getting rid of the naff tarrox rotors that have rusted !!! ....and am going for the coated Spiroslot rotors from GTT. Made from high grade steel and grooved instead of drilled. Will be getting pads to match my ceramic on the front. I'm getting the calipers jet cleaned and scrubbed then painted red too coz at the moment my rear brakes look like they belong to an F reg fiesta !!!!

Cheers,
K.

can't see the point in messign with the rears, other than for looks. They do nowt anyway especially if the interior is stripped.

Have to say powder coating for the best finish, laptab are awsome but if not then I sometimes use hammerite, always smooth and a good lasting finish

The rear brakes look really naff comapred to the front setup (and the rest of the car really), so i am upgrading to improve cosmetically but also functionaly the rotors are goosed and the pads are worn.

I always try to improve things when they are OEM and require replacing. The Tarrox rotors have rusted and look dismal.

So yes, the rears do little really, but they do need replacing, and it's a good opportunity to coat the calipers to make them appear nice too.

K.

I painted mine yellow when i was changing my brake pads. I painted two coats on then sprayed a final coat with lots of masking tape and newspaper about.

it turned out very well in my opinion. looks really shiny when clean and the dust comes off easily.

I had Spiroslots at GTT last week; haven't used them in serious anger yet but they seem much better than the shocking standard ones. The disks in really shiny silver look tiny behind my black wheels - I'm glad they're only 17s!

I have the same manky "'89 Fiesta" callipers problem to deal with now though.
