Offline | Brake pad light How many miles have you got once the brake pad warning light comes on? I know it all depends on how you drive, but if i take it easy how far do people reckon. I have a GP by the way. ![]() |

Offline | brake light warning Hiya my brake light warning has begun flashing, does this mean change of brake pads or more fluid, can i go to a standard garage or is it best to go to a real mini dealership for this. if so what am i looking to spend? |

Offline | I was wondering the same thing. Mine just came on at 52,000 miles. Not sure if this is good or bad. I live in San Francisco, so with all the hills, I'd say this isn't bad. Any thoughts? |

Offline | That's an interesting question indeed.. I was recently told I need pads and disks all round at 17,000 miles ![]() Ummmmmmmm.. The brakes feel great, no noise, very smooth.. I need to pop the wheels off and inspect them myself but I will not be changing them until the light comes on - just wasteful otherwise IMO. Cheers, Geoff. |

| I miss my MINI | The light coming on is not bad but it is an indication that you need to have them replaced. Could it wait a few days? Sure, but I wouldn't push it too much. Why? Well, if you wear the pad down to the rivets that hold the pad to the metal plate that rivet can grind into your rotor and triple the cost of your brake repair. Not to mention that less pad surface means less braking and that is not good if you are coming down one of those SF hills. ![]() Global Moderator ![]() |
