Electic Blue S Replacing runflats with larger runflats

Hi all, my first post in ages, however that will probably change as I'll soon be off in my MINI to far North Queensland, all sealed roads naturally about 3,000 km away, and I'm really looking forward to putting my MINI through its paces in the heat and humidity .

Anyway, after almost 60,000 KM in my original runflats !

Yes you read correctly, I'm looking to replace them with another set of runflats (I'm happy with 60,000 from any set of tyres)

So should I stick with the Dunlops OR should I change brands ?

And one last question, what size can I move up to?
Can I safely get a larger size, both width and diameter size, even if only a slight increase, and not foul my wheel arches on full lock turns.

Thanks for any assistance forthcoming.

Mike, in Ballan Victoria. On my way to Georgetown, Queensland

Hello Mike;

I had to replace the tyres on my MCSC recently, and decided that I would replace them with run flats as well.

After some ringing around, I ended up fitting Pirelli Eufori@'s all round - they seem to ride a bit softer than the original Dunlop SP's - and seem to grip a bit better on slippery roads as well.

I had them done by Jax Quickfit in Hoppers Crossing who were a pleasure to deal with.

Cheers,

Tony

Currently there's only one run flat size available for 17" wheels ... 205/45-17.

If all you're interetsed in is mileage from your tyres when why not buy something made of Bacolite like a Pirelli P6000?

More seriously I bet you'd get something similar mileage-wise from something like Michelin Pilot Sport Primacy AND get a vastly improved ride and save money into the bargain. You could even go bigger if you really want to, though 215/40 is probably a good limit.

Hey thanks Tony for your info , I used to live in Laverton, before moving to Ballan in 1987.
