| MINI2 Regular | A simple question really, but I'm looking at some 18" lightweight wheels for my 57 plate MCS. From what I have read the 17's that come on it are ET48, and the JCW 18s are ET52. Both are 7" wide though? Now, having seen a few Works wheel equipped R56 MCSs knocking around I have always thought they looked a bit shallow and indented (just a personal opinion, no offence intended), so would I be able to get away with a 7.5 and a lower offset (say ET45/48), or is there a reason why the JCW wheels are the same width as the 17"s? No doubt once I have the above sorted I shall have other questions re tyres. Cheers Speeding has never killed anybody, suddenly becoming stationary... that's what gets you! |

| MINI2 Regular | The brakes are the standard OEM setup (for now), however as I only do the odd track day a year, the only upgrade I can ever see happening in that dep't is upgraded pads & discs. Cheers Speeding has never killed anybody, suddenly becoming stationary... that's what gets you! |

| MINI2 Regular | Thanks Damo, I have decided that the max I would want to go is 7.5" width, however the offset is still troubling me a bit. I'm thinking a max of ET40 might be doable, but feel that may be pushing it to the limit?!? I've also asked a couple of wheel dealers to quote me what they think will be the best fitment for the wheels I have chosen. ![]() Speeding has never killed anybody, suddenly becoming stationary... that's what gets you! |

Offline | 40 would be a bit of a squeeze at the rear (outside edge) on an R53 and have a bit of rubbing, but should be fine for an R56. I think it was the fireball guy that said there is loads of room for big wheels on the R56. |

| MINI2 Regular | I think 7.5" somewhere on or between ET40-45 is what I'm going to go for. I just need to sort out what tyre dimensions to go for now! Any suggestions, 215/35/18? Cheers Speeding has never killed anybody, suddenly becoming stationary... that's what gets you! |

Offline | 215/35 R18 OR 225/35 R18. Also depends a lot on the tyre. I have 215/35 R18's Yoko;s and they're very wide. Wider I'd say than some other makes of 225/35 R18's (toyo's defo!) |
