England Swapping Wheels

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum so here I go.

I have a 2005 silver, black roof mini cooper chilli. I have the standard R16 alloys with runflats that came with the chilli pack.

A friend has given me a set of 17" crown alloys with runflats that recently came off of his Cooper S as he upgraded and needed the space in his work shop.

Will these alloys straight swap on to my 2005 Cooper Chilli. I really am not with it with regards to the technical sides of things.

Cheers

Glenn

Yes they will. Gen 1 & 2 cars have the same 4x100mm bolt pattern. Can't see any problems as many members have done this.

Thanks for the quick reply,

Would there be any side affects from doing this. Ie Rubbing etc etc.

Are there any further technical issues I should be aware of. I read allot about offsets etc etc.

These are genuine BMW mini crowns replacing genuine mini r16's

Any advice is welcome

Check this page out.

http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?f...factory_wheels

All MINI 16" wheels have an offest of 48mm as do the 17" wheels. So providing the Crown Spokes you have are fitted with the correct tyres, (which they will be I'm sure), no rubbing problems. No speedo correction problems either.

Hi there,

Again thanks for the quick post. I've looked at the page and I got things a little wrong.

I currentley have R90 Cross Spoke that came standard on my 2005 Cooper Chilli.

According to that page I'm swapping to 17" x 7" Alloys with 205/45v runflats.

Is that still ok

Cheers

If the new 17" are from an R56 then the holes and studs are larger that the R53, as i have just found out,

Look again, there are at least two sets on ebay at the moment. Search for 'bmw mini wheels'.

I meant that the ones on ebay are either damaged, need replacement tyres or the asking price is too high. Will cost a bit to get them couriered to Glasgow aswell, was just wondering if there were any options other than ebay... I'll keep looking in the hope that something that fits comes up.
