Abnormal tire wear

Hi everyone!

Gonna do a few posts here right now ;-)

First of all, I'm the happy owner of a R56 MCS (23rd Nov' 07) and have done about 14'000Km on it. From the time I had about 3'000km on it, it started to pull slightly on the right, but nothing really dramatic (could have been the road pulling), etc... To make the story short, after a few weeks of travelling with the MCS, the problem became so bad (dangerous) that I brought the MCS to my dealer to test drive it. Even they said it was NOT normal at all that the car pulls this way on the right when accelerating. We scheduled a day to bring the MCS and last week they checked it.

The result was quite amazing: the LEFT FRONT tire ONLY was DEAD (worn out) in the MIDDLE of the tire. It suggests that the pressure was too HIGH on that tire... BUT it wasn't the case. The tire pressure was correct and SAME on the right front tire as well...

I tried to understand what could have caused this, and my only thought is that my LSD is kind of putting more power on the left tire than on the right one.... it's my best guess yet. BMW Mini dealer had NO CLUE and didn't really care a lot about it.. it's the first time EVER they've seen this, but nevertheless, they were not surprised at all, so it seems... what they did is just put 2 new front tire on the car (without asking) and charge me hell lot of it. Of course i didn't accept this, told them to put the "dead tire" back on, drove 30km with them to my local tire dealer and put some brand new A048's on it (that's the problem in my other post... ). The tires i had on stock were Pirellis Snow Sport (I wanted it delivered with winter tires, cause it's compulsory in Switzerland at that time of the year...).

Attached are pic of the two front tires (again, 3 of 4 were perfect!).

So what do you people think about it? Anyone ever had this sort of issue? Please bear in mind that tire pressure were EQUAL and correct. That the geometry is OK as well...

Thank you for your comments and suggestions! And please have a look at my post regarding the "problem" with the Yokohama A048

PS: Can an admin move it to the R56 thread please? Posted it wrong...
