Hi,

I have a 2002 MCS with white alloys - today i was out driving, then suddenly the tyre went completley flat, so quick that the runflat light didnt even have a chance to come on!!

So.. the RAC came out and just reinflated it so that i could drive to the tyre garage.
I told the bloke that I had a problem with one of my runflats on my mini. The first thing he said was "do you have white alloys?", apparently its quite a common occurence for the seal to break on the wheels of white alloys because of corrosion problems?

Has anyone else had this problem?
I'm now going to have to buy a new tyre (the 2nd one in a week!!)

I've had white alloys (Motegi MR7) on since October for my snow tires. So far so good, and they've been exposed to snow and salt constantly. They sure look horrible though, I hope they last.
I wonder why it would just be the white ones

I have certainly heard this theory before, but I'm not sure how convincing the arguments were at the time. Try doing a search, because it was definatley on here that I read about it.

I could be wrong but I heard somebody mention that perhaps because on the coating it can indeed corrode or the sidewall can slip causing it to go flat.

The later of those two possibilities occurred on my MCS.
