JCW Brakes with uprated discs (drilled and grooved)

Thinking of upgrading my MCS (gen 1) brakes to JCW Brakes with uprated discs (drilled and grooved).

Mainly looking for more feel ...

Anyone running these at the moment? If so what do you think?

I thought you could only get slotted and drilled discs for the R56 JCW kit? OEM that is...

I would say AP racing calipers with Mintex pads better value for money and still red

I haven't got the JCW ones myself but driven car with them on and felt better than standard, but not as good as I wanted them to be.

Thanks for your reply

I believe the slotted and drilled discs for the R56 will fit the R53; the R53 JCW brakes are the same as the R56 therefore you can upgrade the discs.

AP's are nice but replacement discs are £400 and you need to fit spacers to most wheels

Just wondering how much better feel you will get with this upgrade as opposed to uprated discs and pads?

There is certainly an improvement over standard my friend what I'm saying is it isn't enough for what I personally wanted to achieve through upgrading.

£400 for new set of discs, true expensive, but not really, to upgrade to greenstuff pads and EBC drileld and slotted discs all round is about the same so it all seems relative to me

Put in this way, JCW is the best option if you love your warranty

Check out my sig, I think my warranty is over

I'm looking for an upgrade that will fit without spacers and improve pedal feel and I'm not sure what the best option is

Love too but I think I may be stretching my budget

Maybe worth going for these:

GTT 'Spiroslot’ Brake Discs + Kevlar Pads

I really need a test drive of each

What is the spec of your car to get that performance?

I was thinking of Works Kit due to having loads of Works parts. Last S I was going to go down the cheaper 3rd party route which is probably better.

I'm currently running the GTT ones you talk about. I'm very happy with them, Roland is a top bloke and knows his stuff. I personally would choose these over EBC every time.

Spec is: GTT220 packages, GRS IC, GTT Janspeed manifold & GTT re-route pipe + a mixture of other non engine performance bits
