non runflats on GP?

Hi,

Just bought a mini gp and am loving it, however after much thrashing the tyres need changing. I've seen a few threads here that show that changing to non run flats is the answer, yet BMW insist that the GP is set up for runflats and that I can't put on some Goodyear Pilot Sports which would be my tyre of choice. Does anyone know if it is the case that I can't change to non runflats or are BMW having me on?
Thanks Ed.

You can change, the runflats are horrible on the standard R53. But seem much better on the GP.

However can get the GP to slide about a fair bit on the runflats.

I changed mine the day after buying the car. Runflats are so noisey!

thanks a lot,
After spending all morning shopping around I have finally managed to get a decent price on Dunlop sport runflats. Decided against non runflats due to set up and the risk of being stranded with no spare. I hope this set of tyres last a bit longer than the last! It's proving an expensive business, but well worth it!
295 hp in a GP, what have you had done? I'm thinking of going down the mini motor sport route once the warranty runs out. If I can't wait that long it's an evo or an impreza!
cheers

I have been runninn Falken 452 215/35/18 for about 10000 miles

Makes a great difference to the car - air pump and tyre goo in the boot as a back up

In Italy
