| MINI2 Newbie | Got the discs & pads, but what calipers? Yo, First post an all so hi ![]() I have a 52 Cooper S JCW but with standard brakes. Had the car go in the garage for 10 or so faults and everytime it came back with a check of care list. Noticed the pads getting a little thin so decided to get them done with some new discs. Now I bought myself some Brembo sport discs with some EBC gstuff pads for the front without really looking at the state of the calipers. Fitted them all fine took me an hour. The calipers look a bit long in the tooth now, just hit 60k and I'd love to change them to something a bit better. (without messing about with spacers). Can't for the life of me find which ones to go for or where to buy. Not only this but one of my rear brakes are starting to stick. Now I'd love to buy some new pads and discs for them but I'm really going to need to change the calipers on the rear. It's a fault I believe thats common on older mini's? So which Calipers for front and back do I go for? and where to buy rear discs to match the front? Any help is very much appreciated Thanks |

| MINI2 Senior | How about JCW calipers, or take a look at GTT for massive upgrades; GT TUNING PERFORMANCE Brakes/Suspensions etc |

| Lovin' every MINI of it! | First, how do you know they are sticking? Do you have a piston that is sticking, or are you just assuming that they are sticking due to a little pop when you start to drive? The stock calipers are pretty good if you don't plan on doing a BBK. However, depending on the wheels that you have, you may not need the spacers. I have WEB Spokes and I am going to be ordering a Wilwood BBK soon and there is no need for spacers (so I have been told). As I mentioned, the stock calipers are pretty good for a daily driver. This is the reason that you won't see many, if any, vendors carrying small stock caliper replacements. I would say just replace them with stock along with the better pads and rotors. Offline | They will probably be listed there too , TBH there is little benefit in having uprated rears as the weight of the car moves forward and it it the front brakes do the most work --- But they look seriously bling , they are the only ones available for the rear and the rears (OEM )have a habit of failing (siezed) , so may be popular as an upgrade -price wise around 3/4 of the AP set up ,nice looking discs pretty colour calipers too !!! there is also a hydraulic rear hand brake set up- removing the cable system -Why? I have no idea-other than the ability to do Hand brake turns with ease - that alone will probably sell them !!! with the current drifting trend . Awaiting arrival and test fitting and inspection of these items then they will be listed A |

| MINI2 Newbie | I've thought about the JCW calipers OJM but I've only ever seen them in kits. I wasn't sure if they would fit my rotors that I've now bought. I know it's the backwards way to go about it buying rotors and pads then realising you might need some calipers. Any idea on the price or these for a pair? and leave the OEM ones on the back. DaFlake my wheels are17" 8 S Spoke wheels. The rear right hand caliper is sticking sometimes when I set off, I can hear the binding noise. It was picked up at the garage in a duty of care during its MOT. If you say the Standard oem's are good for daily use on the rear I'll replace it with a new one. I thought new ones on the front would be a nice upgrade seeing how the front ones are in very pitted and rusty condition. I spent sometime cleaning them up but they really look like train wrecks. I'll keep my eye on the the website minimania, although I'm looking for just the calipers and all the brakes on your site are all in kit form. Thanks for the replies. |

| Lovin' every MINI of it! | Grinding could be nothing more than a contaminated pad to be honest. Be careful that they aren't trying to sell you an expensive caliper. You also confused me a bit with the US flag... ![]() Not sure if the uprated brakes will require spacers with the S Spokes but I am sure that a vendor can chime in here and let us know. As he mentioned, it is rare for vendors to carry any different calipers as there is little to be gained over stock. If you already have all the bits, you can either try to sell them and go uprated or use what you have until the next round. Global Moderator ![]() |

| MINI2 Newbie | Ooops didn't realise the flag, all sorted now sorry bout that. Tis a bit annoying really not being able to get the calipers on there own, should have thought it through a bit more.. Like you say I can always stick with until next time. I'll have a look at the back caliper a bit more and see if I can free it up a bit if not I'll get a standard oem. In the meantime, I'll keep my eyes peeled for some calipers or maybe a dealer might see this post and PM me with some help. Thank you. |

![]() Obsessive Car Cleaner OCC | MINIMANIA..... if you are going to sell those new calipers, can you also put up the replacement parts costs also? I have AP's at the minute which i didnt pay full price for which im glad because the replacement price just for a set of discs from AP is around £400 and considering the full set is only around £700-800 then add new pads on that i dont think they would be a wise investment from new.
