DIY Anyone help me please? Tyre issue!

I've spotted my OS front tyre has a bald (down to the wire!) middle tread.
I'm currently running 17" Pirelli Euphoria's and I've been told to keep the PSI at 32..

All the tyre's have been inflated at this PSI, so can anyone tell me why only the front off side has gone like it has, please?

Strange as the wear pattern you describe suggests overinflation, see this thread too: http://www.mini2.com/forum/wheels-ty...read-worn.html

I would agree that it certainly indicates over inflation............but if you are certain that all the tyres have been kept at 32 psi, then it may be a faulty/defective tyre on that wheel.

have you had the car/tyres since new ? and are you the only driver ?

I've had the wheels and tyres since June last year.

I'm the main driver, but my 20year old brother also drives it.

Is it worth taking it up with Pirelli?

I take it that the other front tyre is wearing normal for the mileage ? how many miles ?

did you buy the tyres new from a tyre supplier/fitter ? if so I would go back there first and let them provide the solution. ( should be some kind of guarantee )

remember that the first thing they will come back to you with is negligence or abuse on your part......ie over inflation......excessive wheel spinning............etc

so you need to prepare your spiel and be firm with them.

if you bought the tyres from another source eg from a private seller it will be very difficult to be recompensed, but as you say you could take it up with Pirelli, but could be a long process !!

ps does your 20 year old brother drive your car with the respect it deserves ?

Exclamation

I've had it confirmed by a tyre guy that its def not wheel spinning/driting/etc. The wear is consistent to the middle tread, nowhere else.

Its only happened on this one wheel, not a single mark on any of the others. They've all done about 6k miles since they were fitted, and I got the wheel/tyre package off a brand new Demo from a dealership, and they'd done barely 500 miles.

My brother drives the car with the respect it deserves, he knows that not only I would, but my 6'6" stocky boyf would come down on him like a tonne of bricks if he didn't.

all things considered then it would point to a faulty/defective tyre.

I would go back to the dealer first and see if they would be willing to help, and bear in mind everything I said in my last post.

good luck

Thanks Guys.

As I bought the alloys off someone from the dealer, it wasn't dealer noted, so I doubt I have any come back on them.

I'm getting a part worn tyre fitted thisafternoon, as I can't afford £132 for a new one, and I need to use my car
