Offline | GP tyres Any GP owners out there running road legal 'track' tyres? I'm looking to change from runflats and fancy a set of Yoko Parada Spec 2, A048's, or Toyo R888's for summer & occasional track use. If moving up a width from standard 205's, should i go for: 215/40/18 225/40/18 215/35/18 or 225/35/18 I'm not worried about Road Noise, just wish to get more grip in the dry. I can get 4 Parada Spec 2 for about £350 plus fitting. Cheers |

Offline | Yoko Parada Spec 2's in 215/35 R18. Just ask -G- He has a GP with them after someone recommended them ![]() 225/35 R18 will not fit the GP 18"x7" wheels. 215/40 is to tall a tyre, 225/40 even more so and I don't think would fit the wheels again. ![]() |

| GP 0380 | Andy Simpsons running 225/35/18 on a set of works 18 inch rims and says he has no issues, looked a good fit too. Though I would think you would get better mpg with the 215 over a 225 due to less rolling resistance. And the stretched look is very in at the minute so narrower the tire the better for looks! Replacing my rubbish Dunlops on the S with 215/35/18's . ![]() |

Offline | Like I've said on here a few times now, best £400 I ever spent. I collected my car from the dealers at 9am and by 1 o clock the Yoko's had been fitted! Just had them rotated a few weeks ago and there still like new and thats after nearly 17,000 miles. ![]() GP 1021 |

Offline | I know we don't listen to manucaturers much these days and I don't know what tyres he's running, but I've not seen a manufacturer state anything other than a minimum rim width of 7.5" for a 225/35 tyre Having said that the 215/35 Yoko's I have barely squeeze on a 7" rim Downside to a narrower tyre those is less rim protection. The paradas sit nice and fat (for a 215/35 as I've said) so protect the rims well. ![]() ![]() |

Offline | I got 20k our of my fronts, a lot of motorway but fast hard driving to. Rears got about 35k. There was lots of tread left over tha majority of the tyre (Easily another 10k's worth) but the even wear was making a wheel bearing style noise so thought best to change for safety. Low and behold noise has gone. ![]() |

Offline | Cheapest place I found was selectatyre. Cheaper price than mytyres AND fitted and nitrogen inflated. Mytyres listed them last time i looked: mytyres.co.uk Ahh its listed as Parada thats why. Yoko don't make the "Parada" anymore so you will get "Parada Spec 2's" either way ![]() Yokohama S drive (there new tyre) look smart to ![]() ![]() |

Offline | No different tyre altogether. possibly better in the wet, but I love my Spec 2's amazing in the dry. But then anything is better in all situations (except a flat) than those runflats you get with the JCW rims! ![]() |

Offline | Selectatyre always try me to get them instead of the Parada's nearly did the very first time considering the price difference (over £20 a tyre cheaper). However as I've not swapped all 4 in one go since getting the parada's never really had to think about changing to a different type of tyre. ![]() |

Offline | These Yoko's sound quite good, especially the mileage you were getting Damo Do you reckon they'd fit some 17" S Spokes? You said you struggled to get them on your 7x (across) wheels but I don't know what the S Spokes are width-wise, anyone?![]() |

Offline | S Spokes are 17x 7. Not sure how to explain this next bit. ![]() With reference to fitting tyres for use on a MINI. the 18x7" OEM wheels, with all the tyre manufacturers I've checked, they have listed fitting no larger than a 215 wide tyre. However when talking about a 17x7" wheel, again for a MINI, the tyre size can in fact be wider. I think this has something to do with the sidewall being taller allowing it to be squeezed on easier. So a 225/40 R17 should fit a 17"x7" rim going off of Tyre Manufacturers recommendations. Does any of that make sense ![]() ![]() |
