Offline | Puncture problems with run flat tyres? I've got a Mini Cooper with 16in alloys and run flats, registered in Jul 06, and I'm having persistent puncture problems with the run flat tyres. I bought the car used in Nov 06, and since then I've had 4 punctures (and 4 replacements) from debris picked up on the motorway - screws or nails. Add to this 2 front tyres worn out that needed replacing after just 16k miles, this takes the new tyre count to 6 in 17 months. And with these tyres not exactly cheap I'm getting a bit hacked off! 2 tyres have punctured after less than 2 months on the car. Has anyone else had this problem and what can I do to reduce the risk of punctures? I'm checking the pressure regularly but am I missing something else? Any help will be very appreciated! |

Online | I don't see any reason why run flat tires should be any more prone to punctures than conventional tires. Run flat tire punctures can be repaired just like those on conventional tires, as long as you don't compromise the sidewall by driving a long distance with zero air pressure. |

Offline | One puncture in a run flat since 2002. Patched it myself, and ran it for the rest of the tire life. I read most of the boards every day, and non unusual reports of punctures. Change your route to work? ![]() ![]() |
