£80 a corner from Tyremen
£109 a corner at Camskill
Of course both these are mail order only, but you should get local fitting and balancing pretty cheap.
Think I'll go to ThinkMini for my next set. Great prices and great service.
How long do these OE Euphoria's last (surely a name that ranks up there with Carisma as being the most misleading)?
I'd like to switch, but mine have probably only done 15,000km (they're my summer tyres), and at this rate, they'll last forever.
And do you guys have any views on the ContiSportContact3's (as mounted on the latest JCW)? They seem readily available over here at reasonable prices, compared to some of the other brands under discussion.
hi all i have the pirelli run flats on my cooper s and am peeved off with having to buy new tyres even for the slightest punture !they keep teling me they can t plug them and to put different tyre on i need new rims !!!
is this ******** and can i put normal tyres on my mini as there charging me £150 a tyre for a run flat
I have just fitted Nankang ns2 sport tyres to my newly refurbished s spokes.
fair enough they are a budget tyre, but i think they are a cracking tyre.i had them also fitted to my mondeo tdci ghia x (which did a lot of miles in all weathers)and they performed great and lasted 23k miles before i replaced them (the tread was at 2mm )
You can get a full set of 4x 205/40/17 vr for £142 on ebay from topgear and if you are local to a topgear centre they will fit them free
a great bargain last ages, grip is very good, the tread pattern is very similar to toyo tr1's, so good in the rain.
i am not a fast driver ,so i cant comment on the grip at silly speeds, but if you drive on the limit your stupid anyway
yes this latest Dunlop Sport 01 Runflat (made in Germany) is absolutly stunning! Whereas the old type Dunlop runflat was IMO one the worst tyres weve ever experienced.
I'd go to a different tyre shop; run flats can be repaired, depending on where the puncture is, and provided you haven't actually run them flat (ie zero pressure). And you can put different tyres on MINI OE rims! Have a look at the FAQ.
Vredestein Sportrac 3's (205/50/16 87v) - low noise, excellent dry grip, very nice feel, look great - not tried them in the wet yet but all the reviews rate the wet grip as good as the dry and they also get a reasonable rating in snow - not that I'd suggest they are winter tyres but for the few snowy days a year in the UK or the odd trip to the continent not a bad thing to have in combination with Snow Socks.
Was also looking at Dunlop Sport Maxx, Bridgestone RE50A, Conti Sport Contact 2 - really glad I went Dutch.
£291.00 for a set of 4 delivered from "Tyremen" in Hull.
I can further confirm with a few hundred miles on them that the Vredestein tyres are fantastic - grip in the wet is way better than the Euforia's ever were in the dry!! (IMO the Pirellis easily rate as the worst tyre I've ever had almost bordering on dangerous). Lovely, smooth, quiet ride on the motorway too & a slight increase in MPG (rolling radius has stayed the same)..
Been to all the local corners, intersections etc where the Eurofia's would constantly scrabble for grip and the DSC would light up like a Xmas tree - with the new rubber boot it in the dry and just feel the engine and the LSD do their job......in the wet I've gotten the DSC to flicker a few times but really had to make an effort.
Think MINI put me on to these tyres and a big THANKS - they have totally transformed the S!!

I think you'll find those are run-flats on the JCW.
The Sport Contact 3's are available in conventional sizes but aren't that easy to source at the moment and are very expensive (I had considered them) - that said very nice and I like Conti's a lot (were great on my Merc).
Vredestein being a bit of an underdog are significantly cheaper for what is an equal quality of product. At around £75 a tyre vs £130 (aprox price I was quoted for SC3's) in the case of a puncture I'll be more inclined to just replace the tyre rather than have a repair - something worth considering.
Also, we are driving MINI's - which although (totally) fantastic are not 911's or M5's.
You should definately have high performance tyres that are suitable for the purpose but spending £'s on something that is way over specc'd for the performance of the car itself seems a bit OTT IMHO.
Sort of like buying a budget stereo and then £500 worth of interconnect cables
I had dunlop sport run flats on from new... did not like at all, poor ride and they wear on the shoulders very quickly then changed to pirelli euforia......even worse 4mm tread on outer edges 3mm on the middle tread and the cords started showing !!!!! now i am very happy have 4 lovely continental conti sport 3ssr great grip in the wet and you corner like your on rails can highly recommend these. i found event mobile tyres the cheapest.
