| MINI2 Master | just fitted my pro race 1.2's and non-runflats, its a revelation Ok, I needed tyres all round, as all my run flats had given up the ghost. I waqs running s-spokes and the handling has been very dubious, it never helped that i had one normal tyre on for the last 3 months due to the puncture i had to have fixed away from home over christmas. The car always wanted to move around with this set up. Anyway, the ride was terrible with the run flat and s-spoke combination. It was actually getting me down quite a bit as i had all the power i needed but the drive was far from enjoyable. So, i plumpled for some Matt Black Team Dynamics Pro-race 1,2's last week. Tyres wise i was a little unsure, as it seemed cheaper to go the 205 40 17 route, however i did'nt waqnt to compromise on comfort. So i ended up plumping for Vredestein Ultrac 3's, after advice from 2 tyre places about how good they are and also the 2nd place finish in the EVO tyre test and last 2yrs top 2 finishes in sutoexpress tyres tests. Fitted them saturday morning adn even when fitting you could feel the difference, i could pick up the 1.2s with one hand as if it was a small ruck sack or something, was a pleasure to fit due to the lightness of. it. But then i went for a drive, wow! its like a different car. No bumps, no noise, no harndess, and oodles of grip, it spins a lot less even with my engine spec. Can;t wait to try it up the strip now with the new found grip. Also looks rather hard now with the Matt Black wheels on Silver combo. If yiou are thinking of going for non - runflats, then dither no more. I have had 18 months on run flats, and i now curse myself for not changing earlier. Amazing difference. ![]() |

| Back To My Old Self | Thanks for posting Ant. I and a few others have been posting similar views in numerous threads for a while now, only to be mocked by some members. The transformation of my Cooper since ditching the S Spokes and runflats for lightweight Rotas is amazing. Enjoy the ride, quite literally ![]() ![]() |

Offline | I don't doubt the handling and ride is vastly superior but you have to remember, one of runflats main purposes is safety, not about ease of changing the wheel for a spare but to prevent the problems experienced with high speed blow outs on motorways. So I don't think people should dismiss them so readily. I'm not wishing to start any sort of argument but just point out something they people may have overlooked. |

Offline | I have to agree with aharte, on the safety aspect of runflats as I have a friend who had non runflats on there MINI and got a blow out on the rear at 40mph causing car to spin and hit a barrier causing over £3000 worth of damage to car. Knowing this I wouldn't sacrifice the runflats for a better ride just something to think about for those running normal tyres ![]() |

Online | If everyone agreed with each other the world would be a boring place i was talking about people who mocked others for their choices. This is the first car in seven years I've driven with run-flats, all others had normal tyres and I didn't worry myself enough to go out and buy run-flats for them. If it bothers people that much then a driving course to prepare yourself for such conditions is just as worthwhile. I check my tyres weekly for tread depth, pressure and any objects in them, I drive avoiding potholes, grates and other risky objects and always check the road in-front for anything driving a good distance behind cars on motorways to give avoidance time. Not once have never experienced a blowout since I started driving. If I wanted extra safety I wouldn't buy a sporty car I'd look at NCAP and buy a big safe car ![]() |

| I miss my MINI | I've been running regular tires for a few months now and love the ride and handling. As for safety? A blow out can happen on either tire and both can be catastrophic depending on the circumstances. I would be more concerned with being stranded due to a flat tire than I would with a losing control over a non-run flat tire. ![]() Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | Look sweet. Almost as good as OZ's I do like the Team Dynamics wheels.I had a blow out on the rear of my Ibiza at motorway speeds in the 3rd lane. I managed to pull across the 3 lanes to the hardshoulder and pull up to find that I had blown a hole an inch high, and 3 inches wide out of the sidewall! The car was still pretty stable. It was like all the wheels were really baddly balanced and the steering wheel shook in my hands. Had to wrestle with it a bit, but I was just smooth with it. If you jerk the wheel about you're going to screw up. |

| MINI2 Master | i had a blowout years ago at the top of the Dartford bridge at 2 in the morning. they had to shut 3 lanes to rescue me as theres no hardshoulder up there.....ahhhhh and the barrier is only 3ft and its a long way down, Reason i ignored the OZ Bhozar is that OZ is now manufactured in China and the quality has dropped a long long way to what it used to be. Team Dynamics are now one of the most popular Motorsport suppliers, they even make OEM wheels now for Ford etc. Oh and there a damn site cheaper too. Is till think the best lloking overall are the Speedine Turinni's. but they cost an arm and a leg |
