Can R56 wheels fit R53 cars?

Hi,
I just ordered a set of aftermarket wheels that said they were for BMW mini and then realised the picture they showed had them on a clubman. If they can fit a clubman then can they fit an R53?
They're 215/35/18 7.5j with an offset of 48 and bolt pattern 4*100. I don't really understand what some of these numbers mean but assume from them someone will be able to tell if they'll fit my car.
Thanks,
Crammy

4*100 is the offset on all minis so that is ok.

215/35/18 tyres with 18 is also fine, it is what i have.

Im not sure about the offest though, someone else will have to help with that one but the other two things i mentioned are fine.

Im not entirely sure on the offset. The optimum offset to go for would possibly be between 40 and 45mm.

i think the wheels will sit out from the arches a tad if the offset is any higher.

Are you lowered at all?

EDIT: Anyone viewing this topic, correct me if im wrong!

Offset is beautifully explained here, along with lots of other useful stuff
Alloy wheels, wheels, onformation on wheels, offset, wheel offset, wheel sizes.

And 40 to 45 is good on any MINI

Yes 40 to 45 offset is the best for minis but his are 48mm.

Thing to do is put one on the front, then turn the wheel lock to lock while rotating the wheel, it will show up any possibility of fouling or scrubbing on the body work or wheel arch inners. Difficult to judge how things will be under full suspension compression or with tyrewall flex under driving conditions though. Might require spacers or steering limiters as fitted to some JCW wheels. I think they will be ok though as its only 3mm over the 45

18x7.5 Hartge Classic and Union Jack wheels are both ET48:

You just need to find out the center bore and get the appropriate size centering rings if necessary.

the R56 wheels have 14mm bolt holes whereas the earlier wheels only have 12mm, thats why there are different part numbers for the same wheels.
