Some help and advice needed PLEASE

As most of you know by now I am selling my Works for a Dubmam

I am going to fit 18" R90 replicas to the Dubman and would like to go down the non-runflat route as I have ordered the spacesaver wheel to use in case of a puncture.
The question I need an answer to is,
Will 215/35/18 RUB or am I going to have to bit the bullet and stay on runflats.
Done a little searching and there are not many non-runflats in 205/40/18 in fact the only one I can find is a Michelin @ £175 each

So some advice is reqd please

215x35x18 tyre would be better than a 205x40x18 runflat. Lighter anyway. I have 215x35x18.

The 205x40 tyre on 18's I always thought was too tall, or so the websites told me and other people.

I dont have a clubman, just going on the same thing as the hatch minis.

I can not offer any relevant advice for the Clubbie

However on the GP I have changed to 215/35/18 Falken 452.

what you notice is that the car is lower by circa 6mm, there is no issue with the width or rubbing etc. GP was originaly 205/40/18 Dunlop runflats

Another question---- What about the rolling radius? is it different enough to effect consumption and MPH reading on speedo???

yes but you won't notice , TBH go for 17's and get the arches colour coded ,

then of course you might wait for the ............

Well im on 18x7.5 wheels, 215/35/18 tyre and my speedo reads slightly off by -0.1%

I went from 15's to 18's and it affected the speedo by -0.1%

As your going for the Clubman, the archs have much more space than the R53, so you could even go 215/40 R18. Would give a more comfortable ride. Would mean the speedo was out more, but then the car is supposed to be on 205/40 R18 so maybe not.

Based on my GP
215/35/18 gives speedo reading high by circa 5 to 6% versus circa 3% with standard 205/40 - test done with GPS and also relates to tyre size calculator info.

If and when I replace the tyres then I would go for 215/40/18 - speedo will be more accurate and I will not have the 6mm drop which is too low for the already low GP.

Talking of the R50-R53, the 215/35 R18 is much closer to the standard 15" tyre size ( I forget what it is) than any other 18" tyre size. Considering the MINI was originally setup on 15's (as far as I am aware) then this is the best tyre for the calculations on the speedo.

Thats asuuming BMW/MINI didn't put recalibrated Speedo's in the S as it only ever came with 16's from the factory, that i can't imagine being the case when it involves more £££ for nothing.
