MINI ONE Performance Brake Pads

As the title says im looking to upgrade the brake pads on my 2006 MINI One.

I want to keep my original sensor for them aswell. I know its possible but i dont really no where to look and at what sort of prices? Most MINI specialists dont specify if they intergrate the sensor

I can recommend the EBC pads Mark..... had the Greenstuff pads on my old Cooper, and they were a welcome improvement from stock (and less brake dust)

The sensors stilll worked as normal

sorry i have to but in, ECB green stuff are dangerous on the mini as they have a weight rating of about 900kg and are meant for lotus and the like i had greenstuff on my cooper and they dam near killed me a few times

i cooked them on the road and one of the pads fell apart inside my caliper (ask Ade and Dave at think mini as they took them off for me)

DONT fit green stuff is all i can say mintex m1144's are better i run carbotech XP8s but these are track pads and make a lot of dust, the GTT brake set up is the best stock size replacement for pads and discs imo

See me seperate post on brake issues. I have EBC redstuff pads on the rear which seemed to perform well but I have issues with brake judder (warped discs) which the mechanic is blaming on the pads (I am not sure this is correct).

I read that EBC greenstuff are good for dust reduction but dont improve braking force much (any) over OEM pads.

All EBC pads allow wear indicators to be fitted.

I am considering going to GTT developed pads and discs (google GTT if you want to find them) as they are supposed to be good. You can fit their pads to standard discs.

GTT dont allow fitment of wear indicators (you have to tie them back).

Bear in mind wear indicators are of limited use as they are only fitted to 50% of the brakes (1 front and 1 rear pad). Sods law says the pad w/o the wear indicator always goes 1st (both on my rear and fronts this happened / is happening). Hence its better to keep your eye on them anyway arguably........

your mechanic isnt wrong my green stuff warped a set of rear discs and since then i have always run stock on the rear as it doesn't need high spec rears unless your running a 4 pot kit up front

wear indicators to my mind make people complacent people should check their brakes visually once in a while

ive driven on a few set ups and the GTT is the best stock all rounder ive driven on, if your into track days think mini on here supply the GTT parts but can also fit carbotechs

carbotechs, do fast road and track compounds, check what you want from your brakes
and think very carefully eg whats best on a track, will not stop you any quicker in a 30 mph limit when a kid jumps into the road... the reverse will be true if they are "cold" which will be the case 95% of the time in the real world

reverse logic i know but this is one thing you cannot get wrong

true i run XP8's and imo there a dam good pad as they work from cold and and dont squeal too much i know Lee (2 much) and and Alex (bhozr) run more aggressive compounds XP12 i think

Hi people i decided to go for the Green Stuff brake pads as i dont do tack use i just want something better than standard. There a good decent price and also i wont shred them up atall and if i choose to have more stopping power il upgrade the whole brake systym.

That's odd James, I ran them for 12 months on my Cooper, over some VERY hard road use, and they never let me down

Also odd that they'd make a pad for the MINI if they were only rated to 900kgs?

ran mine for 2 years of very very hard motoring and they were awful and as i mentioned the pad had crumbled away in the caliper drove in track with GS as well and they died in 2 laps they also kill your rims mine needre done as the GS ate away the lacquer please do not fit these pads

the weight rates are more for track use i.e were the car will reach higher speed (they fit the mini as they were sold to fit the old 5 series rears which are the minis fronts when BBK's were fitted on the front)

But they say they're not for track use... so I'm not surprised they were poor.

Perhaps I had a freaky set.... but they were fantastic on my Cooper - hence my reccommendation.

maybe you like yours im going on my experience and what a lot of other people have said to me too, but there are much better options for the same price out there if you look at ECB's own table of use it says they have poor bite from cold

i had quite a few scary first brake of the day moments and later oh crap ive cooked them moments that dont work cold and they dont work hot ues im a bit harder on the road than some people but its how i roll,

I looked into both green stuff and mintex, in the end i went for Mintex 1144's cos somone was selling an un fitted front set on ebay for about £40. They do just what i need, I'm sure they arent the best but they are an improvment. I'm sure you'll think the same about your green stuff when you fit them
