Not 100% but think you might struggle to fit 16" alloys over the GEN1 JCW brake kit. I wouldn't say that the R90s are the best wheels for track use. They're quite heavy for 16" alloys, coming in at around 9.5kg. I think there are a number of aftermarket wheels which would be lighter, cheaper and offer better brake cooling. OZ wheels spring to mind. However, i'm still not sure whether any 16" wheels would fit over the JCW brake kit.

Im fairly sure that both the x-lites and r90 (16") wheels fit behind the brakes:- http://www.mini2.com/forum/john-coop...acking-gp.html But as I am going to be using the wheels as trackday items, I dont really want to have the cooling issues which may be caused by the small distance between the calliper and wheel. Although having said that the Challenge cars seem to run the R90s with the larger JCM brake kit and a spacer without any issues. I will definitely be fitting track based tyres and theres a good chance of slicks so strength is more of an issue than weight. I was keen on the Team Dynamics pro race series until I found this:- MINI COOPER :: North American Motoring - Thats not Supposed to Happen And that happend with R888s as opposed to slicks, which wouldnt exactly fill me with confidence at the track. I have also seen the same happen to Gallardo stock wheels at the track so strength really would be more important than weight, which is why I enquired about the 16 inch R90s as they are proven in the Challenge. Does any one know of any other either 17x7 et48 /16.6.5 et48 wheels, that would:- -Clear the JCW Brake kit -Not give me cooling issues under track conditions and -Be able to withstand the corning forces generated by a slick tyre, without the spokes snapping like twigs. Thanks for your help guys Regards Alicsone

If you're looking at the R53 challenge cars then they're not R90's you buy in the show room. They are one piece R90's which are BBS made and are 16". You used to be able to buy them from John Cooper Garages when they were open but the JC garages closed a couple of years ago or so. As far as TD wheels go, I wouldn't worry about 1 isolated incident, they supply the BTCC wheels, and I don't think you would ever have a problem with them in fairness. I run OZ wheels and they have been fantastic for the past 4 years, very very hard wearing, altho I don't track my car. If you do want to talk about Team Dynamics wheels give Lucky Dave at Think MINI a call, he is the man when it comes to TD's ------> I have a Gen1 Works S and I'm proud of it <------
