18" OE Wheels on a factory JCW

The Wheels & Tyres FAQ lists that only the R113 cross-spoke wheels will fit the new (2009) factory JCW, while listing a number of OE 17" wheels as fitting.

Why would any other, earlier, 18" wheels not fit? Does anyone have the actual dimension that is the constraint for the JCW discs/calipers?

here is the official list of wheels that will fit the R56 JCW 4 pot brakes.

Other wheels will fit if you use spacers and longer wheel bolts.

Hi Snowie, thanks for that. When I've asked the same question to pattern wheel suppliers, they just say "bring it in and we'll see" ... not the answer I'm looking for. I thought that a gash set of old 18" wheels for track days would be a doddle!
