16" team dynamics on R53 MCS with aero kit

Hi
Looking for some advice on downsizing!

I am looking at swapping onto a set of team dynamics alloys from the standard 'S'? spoke 17" with runflats on my R53 MCS, to a set of Team Dynamics ProRace 2 on 16" - will they fit?

http://www.rimstyle.com/data/product...b/xlarge/1.jpg

Its a stock MCS with aero kit. 2 reasons:

1. hate the runflats, need to replace 2 tyres and would be a good opportunity to get onto a lighter British alloy
2. The consensus seems to be that the car is designed for 16" alloys, and for the future 16" tyres are much cheaper to replace.

What do you think?

Thanks for looking

I did a similar thing a few months back - S-Spokes and Pirelli runflats, swapped for a new set of X-lites and 16/50/205 Vredestein Sportrac 3's.

Transformed the car, the shedding of weight was immediately apparent, handling sublime in comparison and now just a pleasure on long motorway journeys.

Mini was developed on 16's and (the afterthought) runflats are just rubbish - we did fine without them all these years, IMO they are just a safety net for the modern driver who thinks cars look after themselves and wouldn't know a dipstick from a washer fluid bottle.
I had more punctures (4 in 3 years) with runflats that I've ever had with conventional tyres..

Do it - you'll fall in love with your car all over again..

Just dump the R/F's, there a tyre dealers money maker unless their honest, they can be repaired, most won't though. If so tell them to "stick them where a monkey stuffs his nuts" !!

Ordered a set of 16" team dynamics pro sport 1.2 with red stripe on rim, unfortunately they were a made to order purchase which take 6-8 weeks, with 2 nearly illegal front tyres needing replacing I caved in and went for the 17" wheels. They look fantastic and I couldn't believe the improvement in ride quality, although I have spent rather more than I first intended spending and am a little disappointed with myself for not sticking out for the 16" wheels.

I used to fight against the traction control at roundabouts, originally I thought this was because I'm used to driving a mid-engine rear wheel drive car, I now realise it was the stupid runflats struggling to get any grip which was to blame.

On a less happy note 2 days after they were fitted I had to make a snap decision between the curb and a lorry, and I have taken a chunk out of one of the alloys , I'm gutted. So Mini now off the road whilst the offending alloy goes off to get repaired.
