Run Flat handling

I have heard from a few sources that run flat don't handle as well as std tyres, and also there ride is harsh compared to std.

I was wondering as I tend to find it strange that when you hit a pot hole or a very uneven road surface especially on a bend the wheel in question seems to loose control, a tech at the local dealer told me its due to the run flats?

Dump them as most have, like riding on a brick.

yes I agree that the runflats have a detrimental effect on handling, especially when the tyres are worn.

I would even say that it could be described as dangerous !!

The runflats have less roll than a normal tire has making the handeling a lot better but the overall ride and noise is horrible.

As above..

17" S-Spokes and runflats = heavy, harsh, no grip..

16" x-lites and conventional tyres = light, lovely ride, tons of grip ..

Cooper S 05 with sport suspension +

If you are going to replace the tyres, Vredestein Sportrac 3's are great - the more mileage I put on mine the better they get..

Some makes of runflats are a lot worse than others.

Be sure to inform your insurance company before you loose the runflats; they might be okay about it, but you don't want to find out if they're not when you attempt to make a claim!
