United-Kingdom ABS Speed Sensor Replacement

Hi All,

My ABS light and tyre pressure light has been on for a while so I took it into the garage. They have told me I need to have the front ABS Speed Sensor replaced and have quoted my a price of £160 for parts and labour. I have no idea whether that sounds about right or is too high?

Can anyone shed some light please? My car is a 2003 Mini Cooper S.

Many thanks in advance.

Knowing the part number for the sensor would help in judging whether the quote was reasonable.

If it's the ABS pulse generator (pn 34-52-6-756-384), the part can be purchased for 38.75 GBP + VAT.

I's a fairly easy job; wheel off, arch liner out; sensor is bolted into the hub carrier and plugs in behind the wheel arch cover. The sensor will probably cost the best part of £100 at dealer prices.

You can see it on the exploded diagram here: RealOEM.com BMW R53 Cooper S Front Spring strut/Carrier/Wheel bearing
