| Run Flat Tyre Indicator Light over a certain speed. Hi all, I've had my 2001 Mini Cooper for about 6 months now - love it, but had an occasional issue with the run flat tyre indicator light. It comes on every now and then, but not properly until recently. I'll be driving round the place fine, not on any A-roads at about a maximum of 50, but whenever I get on an A road and go over 65 - 70 the RFI light comes on and stays on. If I pull over and turn the engine off, then start it again, it goes off. Sound slike an electrical issue, but it's worrting at times!
My pressures seemed fine, no major dips, as when it happened just now I checked the pressures before I left, then checked them half way through a 1.5 hour journey when the light had come on, and they were all still up. Could it be caused by tracking perhaps? I've read that RFT indicators don't monitor pressure, but the rotation speed of each wheel - does anyone else have an issue of the RFI light coming on over a certain speed?
Plus is there a way to turn this off on this model?
Any advice would be great - I run 205/45 /r17 Pirelli Run Flats. Basically I would love some clarification as to whether I actually have a puncture somewhere, a tracking issue or an electrical problem.
