Question Alternative Wheel Trims Mini First

I have just ordered a MINI First which has the standard 15" wheels with wheel trims, which are pretty ugly in my opinion. My ideal would be the 17" Cooper S alloys which are pictured below, but I have heard that they limit performance and handling etc because they are heavy.

What I was really wondering was if anyone had come across any wheel trims that look similar to the Cooper S alloys pictured below? This would make me really happy.

I can't believe no-one replied to you. Those wheels (R85 I think?) are the classics & far from limit handling or performance, enhance it. Just bear in mind big tyres = big replacement costs so maybe sticking with the original 15s & taking a wander round a motor factors is the best way to find some nice trims.

I'd avoid those wheels. They're very heavy, increase tram lining and lower fuel economy. Not to mention tyres are about £150 each!!!

Best with a set of 15-16" alloys

Well you're the first on here to say that, there is thread after thread disagreeing with you on here. The S spokes weigh in at a monster 11.4kg per wheel without a tyre. Speaking from experience of 4 MINIs they weigh far too much, will cause tram lining and adversly effect the acceleration of a normally aspirated MINI, especially a 1.4 first. As any racing driver or tuner will tell you the secret to handling is reducing unsprung weight i.e. the stuff under the springs such as wheels. I started off with S spokes on a Cooper, awful. I then went to Bullets, which were much better. Then went to Rotas which were very light and handling was brilliant. Now on Webspokes and they are good, but I now own an S. The S spokes are ok on an S if you don't mind the tram lining as the power is enough to haul them along. I would avoid on any other MINI though.

My advice is look here

I think the Bullets are a really nice wheel, and not bad weight wise.

Brilliant! Just what I was looking for to compare.
