part worns or not?

im running 16"s atm got goodyear excellence but the fronts have got really bad tread so they need replacing.. i dont know weather to just replace the front two but that will cost me about 180 sticking to the same tyres, or a new set of 4 non run flats which will still be about 250 for a set or i can get a set of part worns for 80.. bearing in mind im a student with no income and im asking my dad to pay for the tyres what would be the best ones to get? im tempted for part worns due to being so cheap but at 20 a tyre im not feeling too confident, any thoughts please?

They're one of the most important parts of the car, and what keep you attached to the road... skimping on tyres is madness in my opinion.

Always buy the absolute best you can afford; if that's part worn, well... I'd rather not drive at all than drive around on crappy tyres.

I'd get the new set of 4 non runflats..its false economy getting part worns, because your gonna have to get new tyres again, and sooner, so therefor spending more money in the end up than if you just spend that little extra just now!

Get new. Part worns are a bit of a fail. You never know the history of the tyre - how the previous owner kept it, how old the tyre is etc. Last thing you want is dodgy tyres.

How many people buy a 2nd hand car and immediately change the tyres? I'd guess not many, so where the difference between that and part worns?

Provided you have a look for yourself and inspect them for damage I'd say go for it

The difference is that a second hand car has been driven, part worns may have been lying in a shed going hard for a year or two until you bought them.

Get new tyres. Simple.

I totally know what you mean, but thats our opinions, which you asked for. Get the part worns just now, but you'll be shelling out money again pretty soon mate

I have bought a part worn before, was waiting on new tyres and I had to get a flat tyre before they came!..so got that do do me a few days..but my mates a tyre fitter so knew it would be fine!

Ask him what he thinks then.

Would he rather see you driving around on a set of safe new tyres, or risking an accident by skimping on cheap, crappy, part worn ones?

So why ask whether you'd be better with new or part worns then? Sorry but thats a pretty stupid question if your only option is part worns!

If you ask anyone whats better - part worn second hand tyres or new what answer do you expect to get?! Honestly its obvious!

Yes part worns are better than bald tyres but still!

If you can get somewhere that can provide good part worns, maybe someone in your family knows anyone thats not gonna rip the ****, then I would say go for it!
