DIY R109 with 215/40/r18 tyres??

hi there,

Anyone with any experience or knowledge about fitting 215/40/R18 tyres to R109 alloy wheels? i currently have 205/40/R18 runflats on them and fancy a change.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of these tyres but sourcing 215's seems to be a lot easier (and cheaper? ).

I'm hoping that i can and that it won't rub against anything??

Any thoughts most welcome!

I would be interested to know this as well, as I don't fancy going with 215/35/18s

found this link on another thread here. According to the calculator, switching over to 215/40/R18 is well within the operating parameters they specify. I also rang up BMW MiNI and spoke with one of their technicians.. says there shouldn't be a problem at all

I have heard that the 215 feels heavier and less precise, would like to hear any thoughts on this?

found another thread below confirming fitting 215s would be fine. No mention of reduced driving accuracy etc.

Hmm sounds good, could be a plan.

I have seen some decent non runflat tyres in 215/40/18 that I wouldn't mind;

Conti Sport 2s or Pirelli P Zero Nero

Would be interested to hear any first hand opinions and thoughts though

We've got 225/35 R18 Toyo T1 R's fitted on 7" wide rims. Work really well, no rubbing issues at all. Loads more grip and feed back than the terrible Bridgestone 205/40 R18 runflats that the car came fitted with!!!

P.
