Talking FINALLY chose a wheel. Now your tire opinions are humbly requested!

Hi all,

I FINALLY (for real this time) figured out what wheels I want. I had the dealer order me a set of Breyton Magic Sport wheels.

T H E Y A R E S I C K ! !

(For the record, the wheels shown are 5 lug, but I have confirmed that the ones for the MINI are 18x7, 4x100, 40 offset.)

I think everyone here who helped me during my wheel search will be pleasantly surprised that I picked out a nice wheel, after the horrible atrocities I suggested in previous threads (which I deleted to save face).

Whew...

Now, I just have a question about what tires (available at Tire Rack) to put on.

I was looking at the Pirelli P7000 Supersports, but I read a lot of reviews online and everyone complains that they are way too noisy. (This seems like a common complaint about Pirelli tires in general.)

So, those of you with P7000 or P-Zeros, do you notice excessive tire noise (highway especially)?

I will be putting 215/35-18 tires on.

Can anyone please suggest a good tire (again, one that is available at Tire Rack) that I should use on this?

Thanks yet again!!!

You didn't mention the Yokohama Parada Spec-2 whose Tire Rack Survey Results indicate 9 out of 10 buyers would buy them again. Only 6.1 out of 10 Pirelli P7000 buyers indicated they would buy them again. The Yokohamas far outshine the Pirellis in performance ratings also. There are no Survey Results for the Pirelli PZero but I wouldn't even consider them given their 220 wear rating (both others have a wear rating of at least 300).

Given the seven choices available at the Tire Rack I'd go with the Yokos

There aren't that many tires available in that size (really sucks). In fact, one of the reasons I decided to go 17" inches instead of 18" is that there are tons of tires that are available.

That said, when I was searching for 18" tires, I had decided that the AVS Parada Spec-2s would be the perfect choice for me. They are available at Tirerack. I didn't mention the Toyo Proxes T1-S because you said you wanted a tire from Tirerack. But, if you are willing to look outside of TR, then I would suggest you take a look at the Toyo Proxes T1-S. Great tires.

As for me, I am going with the Bridgestone S-03s -- since I am going with a 17X7 wheel.

Take care.

Now that, my lad, is a wheel!

Excellent choice.

I've got Pirelli P7000's. They are a little bit noiser than my originals, but wider also. I find they have oodles of grip and are much better in the wet. Monsta has the same tyres too...

Thanks, everyone. I hadn't noticed (duh!) the reviews of the tires on Tire Rack. As MINIAC suggested, I have decided on the Yokohama Parada Spec-2's, based on their favorable reviews and good looks.

Wow! I can't believe I'm done choosing my MINI's feet. It only took me 3 months.

Thanks yet again!!
