Help needed with brakes!

I have a MCS 03 and when i brake i keep hearing a grinding noise, it only seems to be coming from one wheel and only does it about 30% of the time. Sometimes when ive released my foot off the pedal it makes the same sound in motion with the wheel turning. I've had brand new discs and pads put on all four wheels a year and a half ago so i know its not either of those.

I just took it to a friend of mine who is a machanic and does all the work on it and he said the pads and discs are fine and he will have to take the wheels off and have a look properly before working out where its coming from, but he cant have a look til next week. I read somewhere the rain water can get in between the pad and disc and cause rust on the disc making the grinding noise but this has been going on for about a week now so im thinking it mustnt be that.

Has anyone had this problem before and found out what it was???

I had the same sound when one of my brake pads had worn down to the backing pad, you may need new pads after a year and a half mine only last about a year it depends how you use them.

i would say it your pads. disks do go rusty but wouldnt make the grinding noise you mention. dont let it go o for too long though because if its the pads grinding against the disk you will eventually ruin the disk and need to replace these too.

Thanks Josh, she now knows that replacing the brakes can indeed help

Laura: it's quite difficult to tell you what's wrong, but chances are it's the pads. Quite cheap to replace though Please don't just keep driving, this could damage your discs! Replacing the discs is somewhat more work then just the pads and the discs aren't free either

2005 MCS Chili, Dark Silver std: full leather and navigation.
This MCS is 100% original (except for the scangauge)
