Question Tyre/Wheel Combo

The time has come to replace the tyres on my R53 JCW. Can anyone suggest a good tyre? Aftermarket, or should I buy from a MINI main dealer?

Additional to this, I am thinking of using this opportunity to buy new alloys. I currently run on R85 (17" S Spoke) and I have heard mixed reviews about the quality and weight. Does anyone know how much a R85 weights? As a replacement I was thinking of going down to 16". Having driven a number of Coopers on 15" and 16" wheels I felt that the ride/steering feedback/handling balance was better than on 17" (although I realise tyres choice effects this) but I'm prepared to sacrifice some grip for a better, more flowing handling balance. Can anyone recommend a good light alloy wheel?

This will be moved any second to the wheel and tyre forum by the moderators . OEM wheel weights are under FAQ Wheels and Tyres and aftermarket wheel weights are available in the aftermarket wheel gallery. The S-spoke is 25.1 lbs or 11.4kg.

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs

If I can work out how to do it, I'll close this thread because you tell me that all my questions are already answered somewhere on this site.
