Hi

They will fit when you fit them just make shore they spin ok, but remember it will put out your speedo as the circumference will be different
Also the car will sit a little lower so mind speed bumps, mine is not lowered but can be a nightmare around where I live with the speed bumps.
I do notice that my toyo's are not as quite as my Pirelli rf's belive it or not but the toyos do grip well :-)

hope this helps

I have 215/40x17 fitted on 'S' Spokes to replace 205/45x17 runflats as have many other Mini owners, only very slight change in speedo under reading see link below.

eg. As section width goes up (205 to 215) the height profile must be reduced (45 to 40) to keep near to the same overall size ratio.

All the common tyre/wheel size options are given right here on forum's wheel FAQ: MINI Cooper Forum - MINI2 Mini Cooper Forums - FAQ & DIY: Wheels and Tyres

It's the single most useful page of the whole forum, I find.

So 205/45-17 are 616mm diameter and 215/40-17 are 604mm diameter, so that's a 2% change in speedo reading and a 6mm reduction in ride height.

The standard 175/65-15 for a Cooper are 609mm so 604mm is not an extreme number.

Does anyone know the law with regards to changing from the standard 205/45 to 215/40?

I was informed that you need to seek permission from the car manufacturer and insurance company if you change the size of your tyre.

The penalty for not being 3 points per Tyre and up to £2500 per Tyre fine.

Obviously the load index and speed rating should be the the same or better but does a change from 205/45 to 215/40 still require permission?

nothing wrong with changing tyre size, ive changed from 205 to 215 also gone from rft to normal tyres..

as to seeking permission from the manufacturer, misinformed on that front..

I'd rather push my mini than drive a ford or anything french..

Criteria for buying a diesel..1)long journeys.2)motorway miles.3)minimum 14k mls per yr..
