yep there fine they have higher speed & load rating,as long as they are the same size as what is on at present..

I'd rather push my mini than drive a ford or anything french..

Hi all, i just changed my run flats to a full set of pirelli pzero's (205/45/17) and have to admit the transformation is unreal .
i drive a coop s convertible and i felt like every bump in the road was like hitting a brick , the car used to veer all over the place and felt to solid. now however it feels smoother and doesn't tramline over the white lines plus the suspention feels like IT soaks up the bumps now so i'm well chuffed.

I notice you bought size 205/40/R17 - any reason for the change in tyre size (assuming your car also came with 205/45/R17)?

Thanks lots

I'm so glad ive seen your post. i feel exactly the same way about the ride of my car, i have pirelli run flats and its a awful ride. I will defintley be looking into this especially as pirelli runflats have gone up to around £199+Vat each.

Thanks guys. May I ask where you got the Pzero's from and what you paid for them? Sorry to be cheeky!

I have read a couple of poor reviews on the Falkens, therefore seriously thinking of going for a top brand

Well after I was quoted on 4 new tyres (Dunlop) 205 a corner, I'm seriously considering this.

Just a few questions - why have some people opted for 225/40's instead of 205/45?

What's the legalities regarding carrying no spare. Of course a compressor/sealant can be carried - but don't they check for MOTs etc?

205/40-17 tires are cheaper ... but less sidewall protection against pot holes.

More people plus-size (215/40-17 or 215/45-17) if they don't choose the standard fitment.

Many thanks for your reply. So what's the general consensus - I supposed the 215's would give a better ride?

Just thought I would post a conclusion to my tyre choice. I ended up buying another car ! I have traded my 08 Cooper for a brande new One D Clubman. My cooper was on 17's RF and I now have 16's none-RF and the ride is so much better, its quieter and alot more comfy and yet the car feels just as sporty as my other one

If that's the case 205/40-17 is the least appropriate choice

I have gone for it tonight and ordered the Falken ZE912's from Ebay. £257.06 for four. Kwik Fit will fit them for £12 a wheel.

Thanks for your help
