Mini Cooper 2002 New Wheels Ideas Please

Hi,

My mini is currently running on the stock 175/65/15 wheels and tyres. Am looking to upgrade but dont want to spend mega money. Any suggestions for good places to buy online wheels & tyre packages and what sort of size could I go for to still have a fairly comfortable ride and not have to modify any suspension or arches?

Cheers,

Luke

All the factory option wheel sizes from 15", 16" up to the low profile 205/45x17" often fitted to the Cooper S models will fit your Cooper with no mods required.

The lower profile tyres necessary with 16 & 17 rims will not give you such a good forgiving ride as your 15's but the 16's are probably the best 'all round' compromise between looks, handling and ride comfort. Also stick with non-runflat tyres if a smoother ride over potholes is preferred, normal tyres are also much cheaper!

Good used factory wheels are a no hassle fit option but if you prefer new or aftermarket wheels just make sure you get the correct rim offset, width and hole pitches to fit a 2002 Mini correctly.

I just changed my tires from the runnflat's to normal ones. And i would like to say that the comfort is in another level. Went from the goodyear 195.55.16 to Falken 912ZE normal tires and so far so good. The tires are impressive without loosing much performance. If you want a bit more comfortable and a bit less shaking and squeking inside the car go for non runnflat. If you like to drive like u are driving in a race track then stick to run flats.
