A tire question - 225/45/17 on S-Spokes

Can I fit 225/45/17 on a regular 17x7 mini cooper rim?

But the tire is "marginally" appropriate for the MINI ... 215/45-17 or 215/40-17 would be a better choice.

The reason I asked this is because I purcahesd this size, will there be any problems for everyday driving?

edit: also handling will the be a difference? potholes?

These tires will have the shortest sidewall of the sizes mentioned, so the wheels will be more susceptible to pothole damage.
