BMW Spec Tyres

Anyone know what the difference is between tyres marked with the BMW star and those not so marked?

I know that the former is generally more expensive but is there a difference in specification?

I've no idea what any differences would be.
But given that BMW went ahead and put runflats on these cars (which I believe is a contributing factor for mushroomed struts) now means I have no respect for their opinion on anything tyre related.

Probably a good choice going for the Continental Sport Contact 3.
I switched from Pirelli runflats to Continental Sport Contact 5 non-runflats - best thing I've done

If you are going to stick with RFT's then get the Pirelli P-Zero's.

Non RFT's, the choice is vast.

Its transformed.

4 new ContiSport Contact 3s fitted this morning (non run flats).

Its smoother, less twitchy and doesnt tramline.

Best £400 I could have spent I reckon.

Nun

Not sure its possible to fit a space saver to my R55 Cooper S so have bought a couple of cans of that puncture repair foam.

Thanks for the prompt though.

I have a Mercedes and can get "MO" tyres for it. Since the ones that came on the car wore out I've always used quality but standard tyres with no issues, likewise when I had a Porsche never bothered with the "N" rated tyres. Whilst driving nothing felt any different on standard tyres so didn't pay the extra for the rated ones. As far as I can gather it proves the tyres are recommended by the car manufacturer rather than a different tyre or compound.
