18-inch rims on 2004 Cooper S

I'm considering upgrading the rims on my 2004 Cooper S JCW to 18-inch.
The tires would be 215/35.
Does anyone have any experience running on that dimension?
I'm worried it will ruin the handling and ride-quality, I would greatly appreciate any input you might have
