Question re: EBC Pads - Help please

Hi,

I was just getting ready to perform my first MINI pad/rotor replacement on a 2010 MINI Cooper. I opened the box containing my EBC Green Stuff pads and noticed that they come with steel shims.

Are you guys using these shims? If so, are you also using anti-squeal compound on the outside of the shims where they're in contact with the caliper and piston?

Thanks very much!
