United Kingdom
England tyre size on 17in wheels

Hi sorry if this question been asked before. Just put a set of 17s on my 04 cooper tyre size 205/45/17. The gap between top of tyre and arch looks huge don't want to get into lowering, maybe different tyre sidewall size also maybe wider also. Any suggestions Cheers Wayne

Lots of people use 215/45/17.

215 seems a bit wide on standard 7" wide Cooper S wheels. Any comments regarding how well this works?

Perfectly! Fitted them late last year as non rft's, brilliant! Tried 215/35r18 205/40r18 on other wheels, non rft and rft. The original 17 is best. I used Federal 595 RSR's but the car has more power now so it was the right move. I also have an LSD with Sport Plus suspension, the arch gap is nice, way more comfortable ride, with only the slightest tyre noise due to the type. The speed will be a little more accurate.
