United-States Inside of both rear tires wearing

Once again, I am turning to all of you! You have helped me out in the past, so I thought I would let you ponder this. Got my MCS the last week of June 02. The last week of October I had to replace my passenger side rear tire (17" dunlop running flats) because unfortunately, I hit a curb. While cleaning the brake dust from the wheels this past Sunday, I noticed BOTH rear tires are wearing on the inside. Now, the newly replaced tire is only 5 months old & the other is 9 months old. Just hit 12000 miles. Both tires have identical wear. This surely doesn't seem normal. A lot of the posts I have read here relate to the front tires, but not the rear. I am getting ready for my first oil change/service w/in the next 2 weeks & I wanted to see what kind of leg I have to stand on in getting my tires replaced at no charge.

Any & all responses are greatly appreciated and thank you in advance!

10,000 miles on my 17" pirellis, and yes..there's a "tad" more wear on the inside of the rears. All else seems even.

Have you rotaed the tires at all? On almoast any car, you will get more even tire wear and longer life out of the tires if you rotate them on a regular schedule. And, I know, 'The tires rotate everytime I drive the car'. That is not what I mean. I plan on Rotating at 5000 miles. Only 500 miles left, picked up mine Feb. 14th.

Fred

PS. I read that the MINI has -.5 degree of static camber in the front and -1.5 in the rear. That would account for your wear. Rotate!!!

United-States Rear tire wear

Curious what you were told by dealer on rear tire wear. Mine pretty much said it was normal to wear the inside. I too have same problem with much more treat remaining everywhere but the inside of of both rear tires. On my car the drivers side rear inside shows the most wear. Did not rotate tires but will on next set.

I had this problem with my 02 JCW with JCW suspension & JCW wheels and was told that I should probally get a yearly alignment to help prevent irregular wear. Since I have an 02, The rear could not be set at factory specs ( rear bars not adjustable) so I replaced rear lower bars with Hsport adjustable. Greta's rear spec is now correct. Hopefully this will get me a bit more tire mileage.

NOTE: Bar was adjusted to factory setting thus difference in length.
