DIY slight wiggle from new wheels

just got my 17 in. wheels... katana stars... installed them myself so I may have done something wrong... they start to wiggle around 55mph.... I guess I just need to have it rebalanced since according to wheelmax.com, they ship it balanced.....

Can you see any spots on the wheel where a weight might have fallen off? Unfortunately, a balance is all you can do. Call wheelmax first to see how to proceed -- they might foot the balancing bill for you or offer an exchange. Might not but worth a shot anyhow.

Good chance you'll never get rid of all of the vibration if it's bolt-centric (sometimes referred to as uni-lug). Did it come with the spacers that go between the center hole and the wheel hub? If not, you need to find out if they're available.

i'm looking at prestigewheels.com and they have a page for hub centric rings but is asking for the wheel bore and not the center bore.. unfortunately, they don't have the mini listed yet... is it the same as the bmw 3 series? 4 x 100 bolt pattern.....

The hub centric ring you buy has to reduce the center bore of the wheels you bought down to 56.1mm.

Doesn't Wheelmax sell these?

So let me get this straight....I just ordered new wheels, Antera 309's ... 17 x 7.5, 4x100 offset, 35 mm, center bore of 75mm. I should also order a set of hub concentric rings to reduce the center bore to 56.1 so that I do not get the wobble discribed by asaulo1. ......
I love the Internet !!!
Thanks For The Luv.
Peace Out

Michael Filippello at AK Tires USA may be able to get you the appropriate hub centric rings.

just an update on this... I went to a bona fide tire store near my office (bona fide since this place sells and installs expensive wheels, dubs) and they just rebalanced my wheels and remounted them. The tech told me that they (wheelmax) did a pretty shoddy job in balancing and he was confident that I wouldn't need the hub rings after that.... I tried it on the freeway and the only thing I notice is a slight vibration at 70mph but then goes away after 75mph... to my surprise, he eliminated all the wiggle from 50mph on.... I can live with the slight wiggle but may order the hub rings anyway if it will help... thanks all....

There's a slight chance you have an out-of-round tire too. A couple of years ago I picked up some Kumho Ecsta Supras, and one was minutetly OOR. That can cause some shimmy.

another update... called the wheel maker itself and was told that hub rings were supposed to be supplied by wheelmax.com... well, they didn't and wheelmax's reply was that the wheels were too new and they didn't have the hub rings for this model... in any case, I was able to get the exact specs for the wheel to order the hub rings and was able to get it from prestigewheel.com for $40/set
the wheel bore was 73 and the mini's center bore is 56.1 so got the exact hub ring for 73 to 56.1 ... just waiting for it and will post an update once installed..... thanks everyone...

just a quick update on this again... just had the hub rings installed today and boy, what a difference... it feels like I've put on the orig. wheels/tires... no wiggle at all... I was skeptical at first since I didn't expect much since it wasn't wiggling that much in the first place but I drove my mini on the freeway and was pleasantly surprised... hurrayy to prestigewheel.com for the hub rings....
