15" Tyre prices???

How much can I expect a front set (i.e. two tyres)of Pirelli P3000 tyres to cost? The wheels are standard 15" 8-spokes. Will BMW be quite cheap, of shall I look elsewhere??

Erk - I would look elsewhere - Fiveways tyres in Purley will do you a good deal but that'sa bit far to go from Wimbledon! But BMW will charge you max price and no discount for buying a set of four, which most tyre places will give. Look elsewhere, that's my advice, and shop around for the best deal!

MINI Going.....Toyota Supra RZ-S Twin Turbo Coming....Standing Quarter, anyone....?

Am I wrong in thinking that BMW/Mini offer relatively cheap parts (like tyres) then?
I recall seeing somewhere that they will undercut other garages prices??
Maybe I dreamed it. Forever hopefull!!

I don't know for sure but I had thought that MINI dealers would just get a local tyre specialist to fit the tyres - anyone know for sure?

How many miles have you had out of the Pirellis? There was a discussion on here a while ago about the Pirellis against the other standard 15" tyres supplied which are Dunlops. I've got the Dunlops and am perfectly happy with them so if you fancy a change.

On www.mytyres.net they give prices of £39 and £43 for the Pirrelies and Dunlops. That won't include fitting gives you an idea of what to aim for.

Please let us know how you go.

Correct - they sub-contract to a local company (my dealer does anyway) and there is a charge for this I believe.

Incidentally, a friend of mine gave me some advice that the standard Pirellis fitted to the wheels were not at all the best choice for grip (the compound is quite hard for durability) - changing tyres to a softer compound may enhance your driving experience as well. I changed to Bridgestones and found a noticeable difference.

Would really be interested to hear how you get on as well!

Cheers guys - I seems I will be posting any update here then!!
The Pirellis have done close to 14k miles. The rears still have a fair bit of life left in them, but the front ones are completly worn down. The car was a demo though and had it's original tyres when I got it, so they might have had a bit of abuse in the hands of 'enthusiastic' customers.
Will let you know how it goes.

Ive found the Pirelli 3000 to 1. wear quite quickly (especially cornering hard) and 2. to squeal and screech a lot around corners (even when I am not pushing them all that hard).

Depending on how much you want to spend. After a bit of research I'll be going for the Yokohama AVS db's in a couple of months when the Pirellis are finally worn to the bone after 22k.
