What does everyone make of this? - wheel size issue

The author of this article os pretty damning of the 17" wheels and favors 16". Does anyone have weight figures?

What about the 17" R90 wheels? Sorry if this is old ground but I could use some advice - my Cooper S is coming in June.

After owning a Cooper with 16" and now a Cooper with 17", the 16" and SSP gives the best handling package for the MINI, but the 17" "S" spokes look so damn cool that I'll put up with the slightly heavier steering thanks!!

This has been discussed on MINI2 a great deal in the past, even quite recently in this forum.

I would agree and say that I believe the 16" x-lites are the best OEM wheels for the MINI, and certainly feel the 17" Wheels are a compromise in handling. They are heavier, and offer a less predictable, less progressive ride than the stock 16's.

The 17's do look good though, and dont handle BADLY, just not quite as good as the 16's.
