Lug nut torque specs

Hi. Just bought a set of non-runflat wheels and tires for my MINI, specifically so I can buy a set of good "regular" winter tires (winter tires that work with runflat rims cost way too much!)

What I'd like to know is: How tight should I torque the nuts on each wheel? I don't want to over-torque them and risk the possibility of warping a rotor. Of course I don't want to under-torque them, either.

And is there a specific torque pattern to follow with MINI wheels? I've only ever had cars with 5 nut wheels, and they required a "star pattern" when torquing.

Thanks,

Joe

Thanks for the quick response, obehave!

Why is there debate? I saw a (supposedly) MINI COOPER Technical Service Information disk (CD-ROM) for sale on Ebay the other day. The seller even posted several screen shots from it. Apparently this disk contains every part and part number for the entire car, and I *think* may even have retail prices for each?

I wonder if this is a legitimate CD...seems to be. Why would someone be selling something that's only for the dealers to have...

And will it run on a Mac? :-)

Hehe...now there's a debate right there. :-)

Joe,

thats off-topic, but hypothetically speaking about the CD. if i hypothetically had such a program i could tell you that:

--does not contain prices
--only works on windows
--has pretty much every part with partnumber
--is the same one the dealer uses because i've seen it used at the dealer.

this is all speaking hypothetically of course

my worry about that auction is how he got a copy. AFAIK it's not for sale to customers.
