Changing the rims won't need a brake change unless you felt the brakes weren't up to it before. There is lots of advice out there on pad and disc combinations, prices seem quite reasonable in the linked companies on mini2.com

Not necessary, however if your 18"s show alot of the discs then you may wish to change to larger discs just for show. Some of the cross drilled disc rotors look very good. Only change the rotors if:

1. you feel the car doesn't stop quick enough now (ie before you change the alloys) or

2. you want the 'look'.

Have fun!

Unless you downsize the wheels to 14" you shouldn't NEED new brakes but as has been mentioned above, very open big wheels make the brakes look kind of small so for looks alone you may want to upgrade. The MINI stops well as it is but you could always stop faster...

I'll suggest new brake pads, i.e. EBC Greenstuffs. They'll keep your new rims looking cleaner, longer because the pads nearly eliminate the dust. After you put the new rims on, you'll see what I mean.

EBC Greenstuffs are pretty good, but the slot for the rear wear sensor is missing. There is a wear sensor on the font right, and rear left corner of the car, inboard pad. They got the slot on the front one, but not the rear. I contacted them about this problem, and they seemed surprised. Haven't heard a peep back from them yet. It's been about a month.
